This tune has a serious groove. It rocks hard, but the unison parts in the chorus give it some funk. Add on to that the fact that RDJ is singing, and you've got a tune I can't ignore. This is overall a great performance.
I can't lie, I wasn't ever really a fan of RDJ's until Iron Man. I had seen Air America and really enjoyed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I still hadn't seen the role that sold me on him just yet, though. I think that sometimes and actor lands a role that they are able to take and turn the character into the person they want to be. That is to say, they are able to inject all the favorite parts of their own personality and create the person they want to be in that character. I feel like Downey did that playing Iron Man/Tony Stark. He's so perfect for the role, because that's who really is...at least part of the time.
Until I saw this video, I had no idea he was such a talented vocalist. He has performed in other capacities. Most memorably for TV enthusiasts, he performed with Sting once before on Ally McBeal. The duo took on "Every Breath You Take". They nailed it, too. On a side note, Downey reminds me of Hugh Laurie in this video. It's some of the expressions he makes, I think. I hope I'm not alone.
