I recently watched Warm Bodies and heard this song again. I was first introduced to it through the Brooks and Dunn cover, and I'm torn between which one I like better. The original definitely has some of that signature eighties sound that I like, but I like Ronnie Dunn's long notes during the chorus that hold out that line that Waite lets fall off short. The B&D version is below, give it a listen. Waite also rerecorded the song with Allison Krauss. It's the final video in this post.
The song was co-written by Waite, and climbed all the way to #1 in 1984. His re-release of the song with Krauss topped out at #34. The B&D version made it to #15. I think that's a strong statement to a song that stands the test of time very well.
