Unchain My Heart - Bride Drummer

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6Vewad_UKY]

I clicked on the link for this video reluctantly, but I was very impressed with what I saw. This girl can play some drums! The groove is there and her solo is tasteful, plus, she followed the tune and the directions. She even had a great lead in back to the song from her solo. The most impressive thing for me, though, is that she's wearing a wedding dress. I play without any shoes, and if I find myself in a situation where I have to wear them, it's really awkward for me. Sometimes, I find that I can't wear a shirt I had planed to wear, because it's too restrictive in the shoulders/elbows. If I get to a gig late and have to go straight from setting up into playing, I don't perform as well. What I'm saying is that there are so many things that can "get in your way", but this bride didn't even let her wedding dress slow her down. If it did take her performance down a notch or two, I'd love to see her play without it.

The song to which she's jamming is Ray Charles' "Unchain My Heart". It was written by Bobby Sharp in 1961. Since then, many other artists have put their spin on it. It was a #1 R&B singles hit for Ray, and it also garnered him a #9 spot on the pop singles.
