It's been a long time since my first and only post featuring Buddy Rich. It just felt like I needed another. Being a drummer, I have a lot of respect for Rich's playing. He apparently wasn't all that great of a person to his band members, but I thankfully never had to perform with him, so, I'll just stick to the music. There are lots of artists who were such great people that still made contributions to the world that you can't deny.
This song puts me in the mind of an opening sequence to a movie set in Vegas or maybe a spy film. It brings to mind the theme from The Pink Panther. I like this tune a lot, and indeed, it does groove pretty hard. From the quite opening to the heavier shout chorus, the song is consistent in its groove. It's got that classic Rich sound: big, fast, and loud, and that's what you have to like if you like Rich's material.
