Whether you dig this kind of music or not, you have to admit it's impressive to watch the group play it. This tune was recommended to me by a friend, and I kind of enjoyed it. There are parts I thought were great and others I could've done without. It's pretty obvious that the performers are all extremely talented and educated. The technical skills needed to perform this piece as tight as it is here...just wow!
Hrimomi Uehara, seen in the video above, is a jazz composer and pianist from Hamamatsu, Japan. She's been performing classical piano since age five. At age fourteen she met Chick Corea, who invited her to play at his concert the next day. She later attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and has been touring and recording since that time. Usually touring with a trio, Hiromi's Soncibloom was formed when guitarist David Fluczynski was added to a performance at the Jazz Factory in Louisville, KY.
