Let My Love Open the Door - Luminate

This song was originally written and recorded by Pete Townshend, best known for his guitar work with the Who, and that original recording was used in multiple TV shows and movies. Look Who's Talking, Along Came Polly, Evan Almighty, and Dan in Real Life all saw the tune become part of the soundtrack. The latter of which saw a version by stars Dane Cook and Steve Carell become a part of the song's history.

The above version appeared in the season two final of The Newsroom. This isn't the first time I've referenced the show or used a song that appeared in its soundtrack. Seriously, go watch the show. The song is a great one no matter what, but sometimes, a song just sounds better when paired with the right scene in a movie or show, another subject on which I've touched before.

Towshend's original cut hit the #9 spot in the US, his highest charting single as a solo artist. The group covering the song here, Luminate, is from Tyler, TX. They're a Contemporary Christian group, and the song appears on their EP, The Covers.
