The power of music is absolutely amazing. Music can touch anyone, from any culture, of any race, through language boundaries, young and old... This clip proves it very well. With no dialogue and only about four minutes, the clip walks you through the entire life that Carl and Ellie shared together. The music that plays behind the clip makes the journey emotional. This is animation at its finest.
Up was the first Disney film to win the Academy Award for Best Original Score since Pocahontas's win. It's also the first Pixar film to win that same Oscar. Giacchino's music also scored Pixar a Golden Globe, a Grammy, and a BAFTA. He aslo worked with Pixar on The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Cars 2. Outside of his work with Pixar, he's scored several other films, including Super 8 and Mission Impossible III. That means he's been working with JJ Abrams, and that's never a bad name to be associated with, unless someone is seeing the last epiosde of LOST for the first time.
