Just Dance - Postmodern Jukebox

I can't remember and don't have the time to go back and count the times I've talked about interpretation. As important as the writing of a song is, the interpretation of the performance is just as important. If you're familiar with the original cut of this track from Lady Gaga, you'll realize how different this take on the song is.

I'm a big, big fan of this style of music anyway. The 1940's jazz era was something really special. To take a song like this and cover it in that style, well, that's just great to me. A lot of new pop songs are good tunes (not all, but a lot), but that gets buried under the loud music and beats and drums and whatever else the producer thinks to layer on the record. A take like this lets the song breathe, and you can actually enjoy the music. There's a time and a place for heavy beats, too, of course.
