The Way You Do the Things You Do - The Temptations

This song is so cleverly written that you almost forget the fact that it's so hokey, possibly the most hokey song Smokey Robinson every wrote. When you add The Temptations' voices singing those hokey lyrics, you completely forget about how hokey they really are. You can't deny it being a classic Motown song. There are definitely better charts out there from Motown, but this one is by far one of the most well known. I always make sure to play this at weddings when I DJ, and everyone always likes it.

This song was a surprise hit for the group jumping to number seventy-seven its first week on the charts. It later made the climb all the way to #11. The song came together while Robinson and co-writer Bobby Rogers were on the road together during a tour. The lyrics are pickup lines the two were having a game with, seeing who could keep going the longest. Once they realized they had a good song idea in place, it all came together.
