Footloose - Kenny Loggins

This is such a catchy song. It's just one of those timeless eighties classics that we'll never forget. I think the song is kind of underrated by my musical peers, though. If you listen to the song, the bass player is walking all over the place, and that guitar riff isn't that complicated, but it's a pretty rhythmically challenging part. I've posted the final scene of the movie (which was great as well) below. It's the scene at the prom where they dance to the song. It's not until these final few minutes of the movie that the song makes its second appearance, having played over the film's opening.

The song is by far one of Loggins' most memorable hits. It spent three weeks at #1 in 1984. He had another song on the movie's soundtrack. "I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)" didn't perform as well as the movie's title track, but it did make #22 on the Hot 100. This wasn't Loggins' only endeavor into the movie soundtrack realm either. Two years after having a hit with "Footloose", he did it all over again with the song "Danger Zone" from the movie Top Gun.

Update: April 24, 2014

Recently, Kevin Bacon, who starred in the original version of the movie made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He recreated much of the fun and moves from the movie. I enjoyed it so much that I had to come back and update this entry to include it. I don't think this could be more eighties.
