Blaze of Glory - Jon Bon Jovi

Until recently, I had just assumed that this song was a Bon Jovi tune. TIL, it's not. It's actually a JON Bon Jovi tune, written specifically for the soundtrack for the film Young Guns. The group often performs the song in concert, though, and a lot of people just consider it one of their songs. However, the group has never released it as a single. It does sound like their typical stuff, but that's Jeff Beck on guitar, not Richie Sambora.

The story goes that Emilio Estevez, one of the stars of the film, requested Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" for the soundtrack. Jon said no, because he felt like the lyrics didn't match the theme of the song close enough. "Wanted" is about the band's constant touring and always being on the road. While it does seem like it might be about modern-day cowboys, Jon wanted something closer to the movie's plot and setting and was inspired to write this song. I'm not a huge fan of the movie, though, I see what they were trying to do, but I love the song. There are a lot of live versions of it on YouTube, but I had to go with the studio version, because I'm not fond of the way he changes the melody in the live recordings.
