Can't Turn You Loose - Otis Redding

A lot of people will recognize this song as The Blues Brothers intro, playing each time they come on stage. It was originally recorded by Redding with the lyrics heard in this video. The Blues Brothers always performed it as an instrumental piece. The soundtrack for The Blues Brothers sequel has a full length recording on it, but it is still sans vocals. I really like both versions, but Reddings' takes the cake. You can just tell there's something extra in it by his performance.

The song was originally a side-B release to Redding's "Just One More Day". It far surpassed the other song, though, and eventually became a regularly performed song in his live concerts. Redding took his version of the song up to #11 on the charts, coming close but never cracking the top ten with it.

The most famous use by the Blues Brothers, even more so than their stage intro, is the car chase through the mall in the original film. I finally located a clip of it to post below. It's one of my favorites scenes.
