Save Me - Remy Zero

I wouldn't know this song if it wasn't the theme from Smallville. I've found several songs for this blog and ones that sneaked their way onto my playlists in TV shows. There are actually several from the Smallville soundtrack that I like a lot. Speaking of, if you are a fan of Superman at all, I highly recommend watching the show.

To be honest, the show isn't about Superman; it's a Clark Kent story. Throughout the series we get to see Clark growing up on the farm in Smallville, his home town. We see him discovering his new abilities, making first contact with his biological parents, interactions with his first love, Lana Lang, and more about the trials and tribulations put before the Man of Tomorrow during his coming of age. The song works great for the theme and encompasses the feel of the show, bursting into the chorus just as the opening credits role.

The band made an appearance on the show, performing this song and another, "Perfect Memory", at the high school's spring formal. Both songs are from the band's last album, The Golden Hum. The band broke up in 2003, and each of the members went their own way in music. In 2010, the band reunited to honor their drummer, Gergory Slay, who passed away due to complications from cystic fibrosis early that year.
