Superman Theme - John Williams

I can't tell you how much Williams' music means to the movies of which it's a part. I think a lot of people overlook the significance of movie music in general. So much of the emotion we feel in movies would just disappear if not for the music. Williams' music is especially important. His music defines the movies of which it's a part! He has the ability to capture that perfect emotion for the moment.

I remember getting chills the first time I heard a few notes of this theme dropped randomly into the Smallville soundtrack. The first time I really noticed it is when Clark, who is never referred to as Superman in the show, mainly because the show is about him becoming Superman, meets Virgil Swan, played by Christopher Reeve, who played the part of the man of steel in the original Superman films. It was just an awesome moment, and it only took those few notes to make the connection.
