This song for me is all about the syncopation of the strings and percussion. One bar it all lines up on the beat, and then, the next line is back and forth in eighth notes. I'm not a fan of the band in anyway. In my opinion, most of their songs all sound the same. This one just catches me right for some reason.
The song was the second single from the album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. The translation of the Spanish phrase is "long live life or "live the life". That's appropriate as the song suggests hope to me. The tune climbed all the way to the top of both the Hot 100 and the UK singles chart.
