Country music tells songs about life, and that's what I like about it. This is a very emotional song for me, but it's not because of any direct experience with the events it talks about. It's really just a sad story. The video does not portray the last verse of the song accurately in my opinion though; so, ignore the video and just listen to the lyrics.
Mark Miller, lead singer for the group, wrote the song, and it became a #2 hit for the group in the US. It was included on two of the band's albums, Buick and The Dirt Road. The band was formed from member's of singer Don King's band after his retirement in 1981.
