Waterslide - Bonedaddys

I know that in past posts on this blog I've said that if you can't perform live as well as you do on your recording, I lose a lot of respect for you. With that said, being a musician that's attempted (at a decent success rate) to cover lots of songs, I have to say that some songs just don't translate well to a live setting. This is one of those songs. Again, this one is from the soundtrack of I Love You, Man (again, watch it if you haven't), and I really dig the weird, funky, indie feel of the song. The live recordings - at least the ones available on YouTube - are not very good. They feel really empty; so, above is the original studio recording.

The band was formed in Los Angeles. The driving force behind the band is percussionist Michael Tempo. The rest of the group's lineup would change over time. The group is one of the first American groups to be described as "worldebeat", a genre name reserved for pop music that is blended with traditional, folk, or world music. I'd say this song definitely fits that description.

Update: The Bonedaddys apparently can perform this song just as well live as the studio cut. Check out the below version for proof. It doesn't sound exactly like the recording, but it captures the feeling of the groove.
