Devil Went Down to Georgia - Zac Brown Band

What a rockin' version of this song! I'm a big fan of this band, and this cover cements my appreciation. The band as a whole contains an awesome amount of talent. Each of the musicians can play their instrument very well, and they take the time to showcase some of that talent here. If you ever get a chance to check out their DVD, Pass the Jar, I highly recommend taking that opportunity. The whole show is great, and they showcase their talents there even more.

The song was originally recorded by the Charlie Daniels Band and featured in the movie Urban Cowboy. It's spawned several other covers and parodies, as well as one sequel, "The Devil Comes Back to Georgia". The references that Johnny plays in the song are all to folk or bluegrass songs. Daniels and the rest of the band wrote the song based on a melody from "Lonesome Fiddle Blues" by Vassar Clements. It's the band's biggest hit to date.
