Midnight Special (Huddle Ledbetter Cover) - John Fogerty

This isn't CCR, but Fogherty is CCR in my mind. This isn't necessarily a Halloween song either, but it kind of gets added to that list after you watch Twilight Zone: The Movie. The song was first popularly recorded by Huddle "Lead Belly" Ledbetter. It has been covered by many artists since that time. It's about a man who gets sent to prison, his wife trying to free him, and how he got to be in prison. The midnight special is actually the light of the train that passes at midnight. If the train's light passes over you, it's good luck and means that you'll soon be free. The idea of prison in and of itself is a nightmare for most people, though, and nightmares qualify for spooky things. Regardless, this song is connected to something creepy, so, it gets a pass.
