Season of the Witch - Dr. John

If you're looking for a good Halloween song you've probably never heard, here it is. Dr. John just has one of those great, scratchy voices, and over this music, it's very creepy. That opening fiddle lick sets the tone just right for the rest of the tune. Plus, the song is about a witch. It's from the Blues Brothers 2000 soundtrack, and I don't care what anyone says, it's a good watch, for the music if nothing else. Plus, it holds the Guinness World Record for biggest car pile up on screen.

As perfect as I feel like Dr. John's version is, the song was originally written and recorded by Donovan. The Scottish singer-songwriter wrote and released the song in a more psychedelic style in 1966. The guitar work on the original track is that of Jimmy Page, who was working as a session player at the time. It's also rumored that John Paul Jones worked on the album, too, possibly laying the foundation for Led Zeppelin, which would hit the scene just two years later in 1968.
