X-Files Theme - Mark Snow

Even if this wasn't associated with a creepy TV show, it would still be one of the creepiest songs every. If you pair it with some of the images from the show, it makes it even creepier. Given, not all of the episodes had to do with something really creepy, but a lot of them did. Put this on and sit in a dark room if you don't think it's got that spooky element. We'll talk about it afterward.

The song's composer, Mark Snow, not only took care of the score for the TV series, but he also scored both of the movie soundtracks that spun off the show. The echoing "riff" of the main theme was composed by accident when, after trying for a lengthy period of time to come up with the sound he wanted, Snow leaned on his keyboard out of frustration, activating the effect by mistake. The other notable part of the song, the "whistling" sound, was inspired by a song from the Smiths' album, Meat is Murder. The song, "How Soon Is Now?", is posted below. You can definitely hear the similarities.
