Deep River Woman - Lionel Richie

I first heard this song performed by Bobby Cyrus at one of his band's rehearsals I attended. I was only fifteen or so, but I fell in love with this song. I didn't know who Richie was at the time, however, I did know Alabama, and that's who Richie went to when he needed the strong harmonies you find in this tune. You can definitely pick out Randy Owen's voice. The song climbed to the #71 spot on the Hot 100, faring a little better on the country Singles chart hitting #10.

I also found an acoustic version on YouTube recorded in someone's home I like a lot, too. The vocals on that home recording are so great. The song takes on a whole different life in this acoustic version. I like it just as well as the original.
