This band is somewhat of a "super group". It's members are also members of groups like NOFX and Lagwagon. The band does exclusively cover songs, but they do them in a punk-rock style. Each of their albums have been themed, and this song is taken from the Love Their Country album that focuses on country and western music. I like the take on it and the goofy way the band does all of their covers.
The original song was recorded by Jerry Reed for the movie Smokey and the Bandit. I like the original, too. I've included it below. It's not quite as driving as the Gimme Gimmes' cover, but it still pushes you to drive a lot faster than you should. I don't care for the live versions I could find; so, here's the music video with plenty of footage from the movie.
