Rainbow Connection - Sara McLaughlin

When written and recorded for The Muppet Movie in 1979, this song, sung by Kermit the Frog, was nominated for a Best Song at the Academy Awards. It also climbed to #25 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. I'm pretty sure that's the highest rated single released by a frog...like, ever.


It's a really pretty song, and I hate to say I found a version better than Mr. The Frog's, but I like McLaughlin's a lot. This is what the Muppets are all about: Henson's attempt to make people look at the world in a brighter, better, funnier, more enlightened view. I've put Kermit's version below, too. If you go looking you can find covers of the song from everyone from Jason Mraz to Willie Nelson.
