Galveston - Glen Campbell

Campbell has one of the smoothest voices, not only in country music but all music. He is a real class act and still on tour, fighting a battle with Alzheimer's. Despite this often debilitating disease, he still gets up and performs just like he always did. Many people would've packed it in and gone home, but Campbell perseveres.

"Galveston," partly because of the horns I imagine, is one of my favorite songs of his. It's just crafted together so well. All of the parts line up just right, and it doesn't rely on any one part to heavily. The song was a #1 hit for Campbell on the country charts, and it also saw #4 on the Hot 100 in 1969.

I've included two other videos below. The first one is a scene from High School High, a Jon Lovitz film, that uses one of Campbell's biggest hits, "Rhinestone Cowboy," for a gag. The second is the tribute to Campbell at this year's CMA ceremony. Vince Gill, Keith Urban, and Brad Paisley do a pretty good job with his stuff.
