This is the biggest hit The Silhouettes had during their run together, and it's one of the best known doo-wop songs of all time. The song reached #1 on the Billboard Pop and R&B Charts in 1958. It's about one of the members coming home from the service and his grandmother saying "get a job". This was his response.
There were several "answer" songs to the this one. The Miracles debut hit was a song titled "Got a Job". It was a direct answer to this tune. I think the idea of getting a job still holds a good message today in our "occupy" world.
