Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - Chicago

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quUYY61Yb-U]

It takes a minute for this one to get rolling, and it's kind of a weird little video. It does feature Joe Mantegna, though, so, it can't be all bad. He's a favorite character actor of mine. The Chicago cover of this Christmas classic is a little different than others. It takes the shuffle out of the song and straightens the main sections of the song out. Of course, it also has those signature Chicago horn sounds.

The song was written by Johnny Marks in 1958. It was popularized by Brenda Lee that same year. Lee was only thirteen when she recorded the song, but her voice was far more mature sounding. The original recording also features Boots Randolph on saxophone.
