CLICK HERE FOR THE ACOUSTIC VERSION
This is a song that I heard when I was a kid. It's a very well structured song, and I like Brown's voice a lot. He definitely has some soul in there. This is a light acoustic version that I liked a lot, but I've included the original below, too. I don't know who Darlene is, but it sounds like Brown is laying it out for her to decide whether she feels the same as he does or not.
The guitar riff that opens the song, the light plucking of the strings, is probably my favorite part. I don't know what it is about that rhythm and tone, but I dig it a lot. This is another one from my childhood that has held on tight. It was Brown's third and final #1 song, appearing on the album Come as You Were.
