Aime - Pure Prairie League

This is the absolute biggest song for Pure Prairie League. It only made it to #26 on the charts, but that's a good bit above any of their other material. I really like the harmonies, a lot, and I think that's what sold a lot of people on the song. I remember riding in a van to a gig once with several musicians that I'd never played with before, but when this song came on the radio, we all broke in to singing harmonies right along with it, each sliding right in to place. It's just one of those songs that everyone knows.

The group released the song as their debut single in 1973. Recorded for their first album, Bustin' Out, "Amie" didn't hit as a single until it picked up serious airplay on college radio stations. The significance of the airplay was not lost on RCA records. The label had dropped the group previously, but they quickly resigned PPL once they had a hit on their hands.
