Country Girl (Shake It For Me) - Luke Bryan

This is a good example of one kind of music trying to keep up with another kind of music...in my opinion. This is a catchy song that's pretty well constructed/structured. It's most definitely not what I'd call country music, though. It's country's attempt to keep up with dance music, and it does that job pretty well.  The song scored Bryan a #22 on the Hot 100 and a #4 on the country charts.

The song isn't an easy one to sing. I've tried to sing along riding in my car, and I run out of breath. I can't imagine moving around on stage like Bryan is and singing this one. There's a lot of words in there, and when he sings the chorus up at the end, that takes even more air. Even with all that in mind, his vocal on this is just OK for me. That might make me sound like Randy Jackson, but I can't lie. I think it's Bryan's sex appeal that has a lot to do with his success.
