Extended from Brian's List

This song was initially written as just a chorus for the film The Graduate in which a young man is seduced by the older Mrs. Robinson. It wasn't until a few years later that Simon & Garfunkle decided to write verses for the song and release it as we know it today. "Mrs. Robinson" became the duo's second #1 hit.

Several other artists have covered the song, including Frank Sinatra. Sinatra changed "Jesus" to "Jilly." Some think the change was just to be less controversial; others think it was a sincere form of flattery for Sinatra's close friend of the same name.
