Summertime Blues - Eddie Cochran

Fortunately, I never really had to deal with these blues. Cochran had to deal with them enough to right a song about it, apparently. He and his manager Jerry Capehart wrote the song, and it was first released in 1958 as a b-side single. It made it all the way to #8 on the charts, though. A more recent version was recorded by Alan Jackson in 1994. It performed very well for Jackson on the charts, making it all the way to #1. Jackson claims that he was influenced mostly by the Buck Owens cover of the song.

It's appropriate for this time of year. There are lots of kids out there working jobs to make money that they'll have very few chances to spend while the weather is nice. Maybe it's all the better, and they'll just save the money.
