There are those moments in life that everyone experiences when you just don't know what to say. Sometimes it's best to just not say anything to keep from saying something you'll regret. I've always done a pretty good job of this. I think it's the hard message of the song. McEntire always had songs that meant something, even if they were fun songs. That's the thing that I think country music does better than any other, capture those moments in life that are hard to handle and live through. It makes the music real. I've posted about her once before in this blog with Vince Gill, but this is my first solo Reba post.

"What Do You Say" was the first single from Reba's album, So Good Together. The song climbed to #3 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. It was also Reba's first crossover hit, reaching #31 on the Hot 100. The song was released in 1999, but if you had asked, I'd have guessed a lot earlier than that. It still has a more traditional country sound that other music released around that same time, and I think that's what makes her music stand out.
