Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House

This song has a strange reverb set to it that creates this strong echo-type quality to me. I'm sure it's used in other songs I've listened to, but it's really apparent in this one. That fact more than any other one makes this song memorable to me. It's a strange song in the fact that it's on the border of being what I would call bland, too. It's not quite boring, but it's very, very...chill, for lack of a better word. It was good enough to become the New Zealand-Australian band's biggest international hit, making it to #2 on the Billboard charts.

It was on the band's first studio album, Crowded House. It was the fourth single released from the album. The three previous tracks didn't come anywhere close to the success of "Don't Dream." Two of the previous releases failed to chart at all in the US, and they only fared reasonably well in other countries. The third single that preceded this hit, "World Where You Live," did manage to climb up to the #65 spot, though. The final song from the album only managed a #7 climb. That's nothing to sneeze at, but it's no #2 hit.
