Country Doesn't Mean Sad
I grew up on country music, and it really kills me when I hear people say that country music is all sad. It's just about losing your wife/girlfriend and how your dog died and wrecking your truck, etc. Well, I'll admit there are plenty of those songs, and personally, I like a lot of them. On the other hand, there are lots of songs not about sad topics, too.
Country music is built around emotions, and one of our strongest emotions is sadness. Sadness can drive you to places you never knew you could go, good and bad. Country music is also about lots of other things. There are songs about anger, happiness, contentment, living life, having fun and lots of topics that aren't sad.
Country music often tells a story. Country music often teaches us lessons. Country music can change your views of something. Country music can make you consider the other side of the argument.
This month I'm going to post a country song each day that isn't a sad song. There will be some artist repeating in this month, but I'm OK with that, which means my readers will have to be OK with it, too. Check out the next post in line after this one to see the first in a series of "Country Doesn't Mean Sad".
