Land of 1000 Dances - J. Geils Band

First off, I thought this was a Wilson Pickett song originally. I was wrong. It was written and recorded in 1962 by Chris Kenner, and it became his most enduring song. The funny part to me is that the section of the song everyone seems to know and remember, the "na na-na-na-na" shout chorus, wasn't even in the original. It was added when Cannibal & the Headhunters covered the song in '65. The most popular version, which is very similar to the one posted here, was Pickett's 1966 cover. It was a #1 R&B hit and by far Pickett's greatest pop success.

This song is absolutely, straight-up fun in a bottle. You can't hear this song and not be in a good mood. The beat and the groove are so infectious. You ad in the crazy lyrics and sax parts, and you've got a hit. That's exactly what Pickett did, and to make it just a little more memorable, the "na na-na-na-na" part was added into the song.
