I like to pick live performances of songs whenever possible, and this one is no different. The Live on Letterman series has given us some great performances of great songs. This one is a little different, because you would usually find Jones behind the piano. Here, she's playing guitar, obviously. It's a nice change, and I like to see people do things a little differently in live performances.
I've posted the original recording below, too. There is one thing in the recording that's missing in the live version, and it's one of my favorite aspects of the song. The brushes you can hear on the snare throughout the song are a great, steady constant to have there. It really fills in the space perfectly, accompanied by some loose hi-hats and cymbal play. I just love the smooth, smooth sound of this tune.
The song was the title track from Jones' debut album. The song never made the Hot 100, but it's still the song I think of when I think of Jones. It's just like her signature sound to me. That may not even be that accurate, but that's how I see it.
