I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) - Meatloaf

Theme: Power of Love

I think he's saying he would do anything for love. I'm not 100%, but that's the message I get. There is something that he won't do. If you want a serious explanation of what "that" is you can visit the song's Wikipedia entry. The author there goes into great detail to explain that it's not nearly as big of a mystery as most people would have you believe.

The idea that one would do anything for love is not that crazy. I think we've all been at points where we've done things we wouldn't normally do in order to try and save a relationship. Maybe you even did crazy, out-of-the-norm things to get into the relationship in the first place.

I think there's a lot to like about this song. The music is great, and Meatloaf's voice fits the style very well. The song bounces back and forth from high-energy rock to easy ballad. It's those contrasts that really make me enjoy it. Honestly, though, I could do without the opening piano solo, seems out of place. That's just me, though.

I was unaware that the music video was produced and directed by Michael Bay. This really surprises me considering the low number of massive explosions that appear on screen. Maybe that's not fair, but that's how I see Michael "Boom" Bay.
