Still the One - Orleans

Theme: Power of Love

Despite the fact that so many marriages end in divorce these days, there are those relationships that last forever. My grandparents were together for over fifty years, and seeing them together the way they were, I know that they loved each other as much when my grandfather passed away as they did they day the got married. I know it can last. I just think we don't give it the chance sometimes. Too many times nowadays, people let a relationship fall apart at the first sign of trouble or the first disagreement.

This song was a big heat for the band, landing at #5 on the Hot 100. "Whispering" Bill Anderson released a cover of the song. I looked it up on YouTube, and you can do the same if you'd like, but I didn't care for it enough to include it in the post. The original is by far the best in this case. As the story goes, a friend of the group asked why someone couldn't write a song about staying together instead of breaking up. The band wound up doing just that shortly after the comment, taking only about fifteen minutes to bring it all together.
