This remix of the song appeared on the soundtrack for Small Soldiers initially. It was later released on Queen's Greatest Hits III and on Pras Michel's debut album, Ghetto Superstar; he along with Free and Jean appeared in the remix recording. The song overall is basically the same as the original with some added break-beats and the rap verses. The remix didn't hit too awfully hard here in the US, but in the UK it had some decent success.
The lack of success in the States is probably linked to the lackluster success the film it's linked to saw. Small Soldiers was released in 1998, and while critics and audiences were wowed with the film's SFX that brought to life the action figures the movie's plot revolves around, critics were hard on the film's tone. The movie was marketed toward a younger audience, but it had a very dark tone to it, and critics and parents took notice.
The song was written by Queen bassist John Deacon. He had been spending time with the funk group Chic, and found influence for the iconic bass line in their music. Particularly, he was inspired by their song "Good Times". You can listen to it below, and most people will definitely be able to pick out what he heard to drive his vision.
