As you may know, I'm not the biggest fan of rap music, but when something good comes along, I'll admit it. This is one of those songs that hit so hard you couldn't get away from it in 1995. I grew up in small town America, West Virginia, and it still reached even here with its popularity, partly because of its tie with the hit movie Dangerous Minds.
This tune, like a lot of hip-hop and rap, samples a classic song. In this case, the chorus's melody, and a good chunk of the music, come from Stevie Wonder's "Pastime Paradise". He even did a performance of the song with Coolio and L.V. at the Billboard Awards the year the song was released.
