There is certain tone that a saxophone in a rock band should have, and this man captures that very well. The tone coming off the bass is pretty epic, too. The guitar player is staying right where he he should be for this tune, filling in the gaps. The drummer is solid, but I agree with one of the comments on YouTube saying that it could've been a little funkier and syncopated. That's just a personal preference, though.
I have no idea who this group is. I just stumbled onto them on YouTube while looking for a cool version of this tune. They do have a facebook page, but it doesn't have anything very recent on it, and they have a few other YouTube videos out there. I recommend checking them out.
The song was originally written and recorded by Quincy Jones. It's popularity has remained strong over the years, mainly due to its status as the theme song for the hit sitcom, Sanford and Son. Below, you'll find the original recording, which has a lot of harmonica in it that is the only thing really missing from the video that starts the post. Of course, they don't have that signature bass harmonica sound that helps to kick the tune off either, but that's understandable.
