This is not only one of the best Disney songs to date, it's just a great song in general. The original song was recorded by the voice actor for Ms. Potts, Angela Lansbury, in the film that shares the song's title. This film also featured Jerry Orbach, from "Law & Order" fame, as Luimere. Orbach was a good actor, and one of my favorites. He and Lansbury also worked together on the TV show, Murder, She Wrote.
The song won Best original song at the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Award for Best Original Song. This, the pop version, made it all the way to #9 on the Hot 100 list. It has been speculated that the success of the song was the main push for Dion's career success.
