Here Comes Garfield - Lou Rawls

I've been a big Garfield fan for a long time, and a lot of people would...no, have, compared my personality to his in many ways. I'd say they're not too far off from the truth. I won't go into detail, but I'm sure you can imagine. On top of being a fan of the fictional cat, I'm a big fan of Rawls' voice. I'm not overly familiar with a lot of his music, but his voice is about as smooth as you can get. Apparently, the people who produced this Garfield special thought so, too.

"Here Comes Garfield" was a half hour TV special in 1982, before we had channels that played cartoons 24/7. I remember my parents taping it on a VHS to watch again later. We did a lot of that when I was growing up. I remember this song, too. It's not the original song; this cut was from a compilation album, Am I Cool or What?, with other Garfield related music on it. While Natalie Cole did the rendition of "Long 'bout Midnight" for this album, Rawls did the original version for the animated special. It's another great tune. You can check it out below.
