I was talking with my mom recently about all the changes that have occurred over the last few years in the area where I grew up. Anytime I think about those changes, I think of this song. The line "that old drive in's a new Walmart" describes exactly something that happened here. A drive-in theater that I can't even remember going to I was so young (but I can remember seeing the movies play on it as we drove by on the interstate as I got older) was replaced by a Walmart. That specific instance and the general overtones of this song really get me thinking.
Lead singer, Richie McDonald, co-wrote this song with Larry Boone and Paul Nelson. Boone has co-written top-ten hits for not only Lonestar, but also Rick Trevino, Don Williams, and Tracy Lawrence. This song made it to #2 on the Country Singles chart. The album cut of this song is good, but I feel like it has a much stronger connection with the listener in this acoustic setting.
