The feel of this song is the kind of blues I love. It's probably just some kind of jazzy-bluesy thing I'm not familiar with, but I do have a problem with Walker's guitar parts. It sounds like he's playing all the wrong chords! His solos sound fine, but man, those chords sound like bad open mic material. I'm sure someone could correct me, at least I hope so. The more I listen, though, it sounds like his guitar is just a little out of tune.
Anyway, Walker was a blues guitarist, a very successful one. Having been ranked as one of Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time", I'm sure he knew what was up! The song does use a lot of different chords, (C9, A minor7, D augmented, etc.). That may have something to do with what I mentioned above. It was originally released in 1947 and is often confused, due to the title and lyrics, with "Stormy Monday Blues" by Earl Hines and Billy Eckstine.
