I looked around YouTube for a really cool cover, but sometimes you just can't beat the original interpretation of a song. The song was written by John Rich, Keith Anderson, and Rodney Clawson, and performed by Rich and his partner Big Kenny Alphin (Big & Rich). Anderson, who was a successful country performer himself, has performed the song on a number of occasions, too, but this is THE version in my opinion, from the opening drum-fill pickup to the fade out on the harmony vocals.
It's absolutely the perfect wedding song. It's not the the only perfect wedding song, but it's definitely one of them. I love songs that can capture a, no pun intended, moment in words and music. This one does that perfectly. Not only that, but the music is great, too! The change from the short, crisp sound of the verses to the open, full sound of the chorus is my favorite part.
There is one other song that comes to mind when I hear this one. Phil Vassar's "Love is a Beautiful Thing" captures this type of moment very well, too, but from a slightly different perspective. This one is more direct to the bride and groom's feelings; the other takes a broader look at what a day like this can mean to other people involved.
