The players are three acclaimed guitar masters: Tommy Emmanuel, Vlatko Stefanovski, and Stochelo Rosenburg. I like the feel and sound of this tune so much that I enjoy it almost as much without the words. The first time I heard it was when playing with a band one night; I was just sitting in for a drummer that couldn't make it, and this song was called out. I didn't know it, but they counted it off and played on through the song. Nobody died, so, I'll call it a win. I haven't heard a version that had quite the same feel since then, but this instrumental version comes close.
Originally written and recorded by Danny O'Keefe, the song was actually first released by The Bards. O'Keefe released the song three years after The Bards on his self-titled album. It was his second recording (recorded a year later than his first) that was released as a single. That single is in the video below. I dig the ghost notes on the snare drum in his version, too.
