Ukulele with Chopsticks - James Hill

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RylxBtEM0sI]

It's one thing to create original music, but it's an entirely different thing to create a new instrument. That's pretty much what Hill does in this video. It's obvious from the performance that he's not doing this on the spot, but it's still impressive. He's taken an instrument that is familiar in one way, and he's made it something entirely new.

There seems to be a stigma in the music community that any time someone tries something new that it's frowned upon. You really have to prove yourself before anyone will accept your idea. For that matter, it's not just the music community; it's all parts of life. If there were more acceptance and congratulations for thinking outside the box, maybe more people would do it. One of my favorite sayings is, "'that's the way we've always done it' is one of the most dangerous phrases in the English language."
