When You Wish Upon a Star - Stevie Wonder

There are SO many versions of this song. I really dig the smooth jazz version of this one, though. Wonder was only thirteen at the time he recorded this song. His control at that age is amazing. He really was born to sing and play, and he only gets better as he ages.

When I was a kid and we only had three channels on TV, we waited all week for The Magical World of Disney on Sunday evenings. They would show classic Disney movies or a special animated feature if it was close to a holiday or sometimes we'd get a Goofy cartoon of some kind. The most memorable of the specials for me was an episode where the Muppets went to Disney World. It's probably my favorite, and the only one I remember with any detail. You can find it on YouTube split into parts, but it is all there in its entirety

All that to say this, my next favorite version was the one that accompanied the opening sequence of that series. It's funny how memory and nostalgia work. When I watched the version below, I was transported to our living room growing up, watching this on TV. I remember what the TV looked like, the couch and chairs, carpet...everything. Isn't it funny how one small memory can bring that all back? Yes, my favorite version of this song is the one with the 80's synth sound and feel when it picks up tempo. What can I say?  I originally picked this song looking for something inspirational, and I definitely found it.
